'Salute to Our Heroes' Virtual Drawdown Survivor Spotlight: Will Parker

Our mission is to assist brain and spinal cord injury survivors and their families all over the state in locating available resources and facilities, and we love what we do! Support groups, a main focus for us, are so important for our families. When COVID sent us home in March, we immediately started hosting weekly Virtual Support Group meetings to keep everybody connected.

Will Parker is one of the survivors we have had the privilege of getting to know over the years. Below he tells us his story and the impact BIA of MS has played in his life.

“I lost my memory 15 years ago to encephalitis, and the Brain Injury Association of MS has helped me greatly. I was invited to one of their support group meetings by a kind person I met during occupational therapy. The meetings are a places where I actually smile with happiness. When I needed assistance with understanding my rights, the Association knew where to turn. They also inspire me to pursue hobbies that make me happy, such as cross stitching. Even though I might not remember what day it is one minute after looking at the calendar, and I might not recall the clothes I am currently wearing, I can indeed remember how fortunate I am to know the BIAMS.”

We exist to help Will Parker and so many other survivors. Please consider purchasing a ticket for our 2020 Salute to Our Heroes Virtual Drawdown on December 28 for the chance to win $5,000 and to help us sustain our mission!
