March 2026 is Brain Injury Awareness Month
Brain Injury Awareness Day at the Capitol
March 4, 2026
In the U.S., 13.5 million people are living with an Aquired Brain Injury (ABI)-related disability. Mississippi is in the top 5 states per capita in numbers of brain injuries and most recently, #1 in strokes.
Someone sustains a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) every 9 seconds.
5.3 million Americans live with a TBI-related disability. Leading causes are falls and being struck by an object or motor vehicle accident.
If you know someone who is living with brain injury - or if you have one yourself - you know that brain injury is not an event or an outcome. It's the start of a misunderstood, misdiagnosed, underfunded neurological disease. A life long, chronic health condition.
